The Cornell system was developed to save you time when taking notes on a videoconference lecture, chat lecture or even on a conventional speech. We are sure this will help your online degree studies.
First Step (online degree note taking)
Make use of a large notebook. Only one side of the paper is to be used. Draw a vertical line about 10 cms. from the left side of your paper. This is the "recall" column. Notes will be taken to the right of this margin only. Later keywords or keyphrases will be written in the recall column.
Second Step (online degree note taking)
Record your online degree notes in a paragraph form. Capture the general ideas, not the full illustrative ideas (too time-consuming and you may miss important general ideas). Skip lines to show end of ideas or thoughts. Using abbreviations will save time. Write legibly (at least for yourself!). Writing too fast will tire and frustrate you and you will include too much unnecessary information. Choose what is important to note!
Third Step (online degree note taking)
Read your online degree notes and make them more legible if this proves necessary. Now use the left column. Write down general ideas or keywords which give you the idea of the lecture. You will have to reread the lecturer's ideas and reflect in your own words on the left column. Cover up the right-hand portion of your notes and recite the general ideas and concepts of the lecture. Overlap your notes showing only recall columns and you have your review. This is certainly a great online degree memorizing system.
